A number of major forces have the potential to transform “work as we know it” in Canada - from large scale automation to demographic shifts to immigration to climate change. While the “rest of Canada is booming” as one CBC headline put it, populations on the East Coast are largely in decline. Workers are getting older, young people are moving away, families are shrinking, and immigrants are heading for the big cities. Given these challenges, what superpowers might we develop now for the work of tomorrow?

During a morning session and workshop, Hamoon Ekhtiari, CEO of FutureFit AI, will speak to some of the specific challenges facing the Atlantic Region, and how the combined power of technology and data with localized policy tools like immigration, can develop “Superpowers for the Future of Work.”

Keynote Address: Superpowers for the Future of Work
The session will cover topics related to preparing for the workforce for the future and aligning the necessary stakeholders across business, government, and education to shape a future fit East Coast.

The Workshop: Developing a Future Fit Roadmap for the Workforce in St. Johns
The workshop will bring together interested stakeholders in mapping out a “Future Fit Roadmap” for St. John’s in identifying priority sectors, an evolving employment landscape, up/reskilling needs that may exist in the region, and potential solutions to solve for them.
