But economists who study immigration have found that the effects of immigrants on the economic prospects of domestic workers are multiple\, nuanced\, and surprising.\n\n\n\nNimish Adhia is an associate professor of economics at Manhattanville College in Purchase\, New York\, where he teaches International Economics\, Economics of Developing Countries\, and the Intellectual History of Capitalism. Having lived in India\, Saudi Arabia\, and the US\, his research interest is in understanding what different people at different times have believed about markets\, commerce\, and the profit motive. He has a PhD in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago\, where he wrote his dissertation on how the portrayal of business in Indian films has changed over time. He has published research articles in academic journals\, op-eds in business dailies\, and has delivered lectures on the effects of immigration\, sweatshops\, and Indian economic policies\, on campuses and think-tanks across the US\, Canada\, and India.\n\n\n\nPlease note: We will be doing Facebook Live with this session.
