Director, Programs at Genesis

More than 1,000 startups have launched through our programs, creating 2,900 jobs and adding $3.5B to Newfoundland and Labrador's economy. We're hiring a Director, Programs to lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the initiatives that help build the province's next generation of amazing companies.
This senior leadership role reports directly to the CEO and is both strategic and hands-on: you'll set the vision for Genesis programming while ensuring seamless execution. You'll mentor a talented team of startup coaches, program managers, and community engagement staff, and represent Genesis across the local and national startup ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Program leadership and design: Oversee the strategy, structure, and delivery of all Genesis programs including Startups 101, Evolve, Membership, and community events. Continuously refine and innovate programming to meet the evolving needs of founders and investors.
- Stay ahead of trends: Monitor regional, national, and international best practices in innovative programming and apply the latest methodologies to program development and delivery.
- Founder success and community building: Ensure programs deliver exceptional value to startups and alumni while fostering a strong, inclusive, and engaged community within Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Team management and development: Lead, mentor, and performance-manage the Programs team, providing clarity of roles and priorities while promoting a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
- External representation and partnerships: Represent Genesis at conferences, pitch events, and industry panels. Build strong relationships with ecosystem partners, investors, funders, and corporate collaborators.
- Program delivery and quality: Oversee day-to-day operations, program communications, schedules, and budgets with a focus on founder satisfaction and measurable outcomes. Monitor performance and track impact metrics in collaboration with other leaders.
- Funding and sustainability: Identify and secure new program funding opportunities alongside the CEO and Finance team to ensure sustainability and growth.
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in startups, ideally as a founder or early-stage startup employee (broader experience in the innovation ecosystem is also highly valued).
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities and diverse stakeholders.
- Based in Newfoundland and Labrador and legally permitted to work in Canada.
