Celebrating Business A Little Differently This Year

Sharing Stories of Resilience at Reimagined Annual Business Awards

For Immediate Release

St. John’s, NL, October 15, 2020 – The St. John’s Board of Trade is inviting its members to share their stories of resilience to be celebrated at the upcoming RBC Business Resilience Awards on December 2, 2020.

Every year the St. John’s Board of Trade celebrates the best of the business community at the Business Excellence Awards. However, given the challenges of 2020, we will be celebrating business a little differently. This year, we are recognizing resilience in four new award categories.

“2020 has been a year like no other,” said AnnMarie Boudreau, CEO, St. John’s Board of Trade. “Through the immense challenges of a record-breaking snowfall, a week-long State of Emergency, and COVID-19, we have seen so many of our local businesses rise to the occasion with out-of-the-box thinking, strength, and perseverance. Our members deserve to be recognized for their ingenuity and determination and we’re excited to celebrate them.”

“We were excited to hear how the St. John’s Board of Trade is recognizing success this year,” said Mike James, Vice President, Commercial Financial Services, RBC Newfoundland and Labrador. “It is no surprise that business success should be measured differently this year and we’re delighted to be supporting this event again and look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the business community.”

There will be five winners at this year’s awards, in the following categories:
  • Opportunity Seeker
  • Boundary Pusher
  • Service Star
  • Community Champion
  • 2020 Business Resilience Award
Nominations are open until October 30, 2020 at 3pm. For more information, please visit: www.stjohnsbot.ca/2020-rbc-business-resilience-awards

“Our work at the St. John’s Board of Trade this year has been focused on supporting business. From advocacy and beyond, we have been supporting in whatever way we can these past several months. The ability of so many members to survive, and even thrive, during this time is certainly worth celebrating. In an unparalleled year, we are taking a whole new approach to our annual awards.”
