The St. John’s Board of Trade gears up to celebrate 50 years of supporting its members in a year marked by continued business resilience
St. John’s, NL, November 4, 2021 – The St. John’s Board of Trade announced a record number of nominees for the 2021 Business Resilience Awards at a private reception on Tuesday celebrating all 52 nominees and event partners.
Every year the St. John’s Board of Trade celebrates the best of the business community at the Business Excellence Awards. However, given the challenges we continue to face in 2021, we brought back the different way of celebrating business we introduced last year by, once again, recognizing resilience in six award categories.
2021 has certainly been a wild year. If 2020 threw everything into a tailspin, 2021 had us all building from new, often shaky, foundations in a “new normal.” We’ve started to figure things out and, thankfully, we saw a lot of businesses flourish once they found their footing. Despite the pandemic, incredible things continued to happen. Products launched, teams grew, ways of work shifted, and so much more.
“We knew we had so many reasons to celebrate when we launched nominations for the 2021 Awards Show,” said AnnMarie Boudreau, CEO, St. John’s Board of Trade. “Now, after seeing all the amazing nominations roll in, I am 100% sure our decision to celebrate big this year was a good one.”
52 businesses submitted nominations this year. In true Board of Trade style, they represent businesses of all sizes and sectors.

th anniversary of membership, with our very first members joining in 1971. This year, as part of celebrating resilience, we will mark this historic moment by looking back, as we look ahead to success in the next 50.
“By definition, we are a resilient organization,” said Justin Ladha, Chair, St. John’s Board of Trade. “The St. John’s Board of Trade has been helping businesses succeed since 1971. Today, we’re stronger than ever and confident of our continued success in supporting and advocating for our members and the broader business community for the next 50 years.”
The St. John’s Board of Trade will be handing out the awards at a gala event on November 25.
